Julie Knight's life is changed in a breathless instant, when she learns of the gruesome death of her beloved father. Reeling from the unimaginable loss, she returns to the small, southern town of Spring Place, GA. There she is comforted by friends she thinks of as family, confused by feelings for a man who is nothing like the one she once knew, and baffled by mysterious dreams of a haunting destiny.
Daniel Maxwell is no longer the awkward young man with eyes only for his sister's best friend. He is a handsome, charming, accomplished scientist...with eyes only for his sister's best friend. Not only does he ache to ease Julie's heartbreak over the loss of her father, he is determined to protect her from an ominous fate.
Julie learns it isn't only the past that draws her to Daniel, but a Lycan heritage that also ties them as mates in a sinister fate that could tear them apart forever. Together, they will forge alliances with other creatures of the night in an effort to save each other, and the love that binds them, from the deadly pack that roams the Dark of kNight.
I enjoyed this story immensely! Ms. Mitchell writes with a poetic voice, painting a vivid world filled with engaging characters that spoke to this southerner's romantic heart. She combines strong elements of traditional romance with fresh slants on paranormal lore, and adds enough suspense and intrigue to keep the pages turning, and your heart longing for more. I look forward to more of this wonderful series from this talented author!
