Who Bought New Moon?

Savy Readers Book Shelf

Kate of The Neverending Shelf made me think about YA and the title that popped to mind was Twilight. And the fact that I just picked up my copy of the DVD New Moon today. So I decided to see who had and who had not joined me in consumer bliss. Share if you have, have not, why, or why not.

T.L. Mitchell - I have to admit, I purchased the movie New Moon, the second movie in the Twilight Saga. My interest in the movie was primarily because of the books. Paranormal Romances containing vampires and/or werewolves have always interested me. My collection of movies contain primarily my favorites. Since I have the entire collection of Stephanie Myers books, and the first Twilight Movie - I didn't think it would be a bad idea to continue on with the series.

The New Moon, in my opinion was better than Twilight. I loved the brightness and colors. Although I was disappointed with a few things in the movie- they left out a few detail which would have been helpful. Certain parts were very good and descriptive and played right along with the book. One thing I wished they had included in the movie was more of the conversation between Bella and Edward with turning her into a vampire. They hit on the subject a couple of times, but Bella was very persistant about this in the books. I did like the ending and was glad to see they included the ultimate cliff hanger. Over all, I did enjoy the movie.

Antonia Tiranth - I actually didn't buy New Moon; a friend bought it for me. ^.^ I'll be honest and say that I was going to purchase it for myself but she beat me to it. Why did I want it? Well, part of it is, I have Twilight and I'm a big fan of owning a series all out so I have to buy it to complete the set. The other part of it is, despite the myriad of problems I have with the series, at its heart there is an interesting story ~Tir

The Dark of kNight of T.L. Mitchell

We have T.L. Mitchell is in the Friday Author Spotlight. Let's find out about the Dark of kNight.

T.L. Mitchell currently lives in Virginia. She enjoys the views of the mountains and fresh air while working on her new paranormal romance series. On her days off she loves going out to dinner with friends, catching the latest movies and riding four wheelers with the family. She is a NASCAR fan and enjoys watching the races and hopes to meet her favorite driver one day.

Among writing, T.L. also enjoys reading. Some of her favorite authors include Karen Marie Moning, Shannon Bailey and Tamela Quijas.

Ms. Mitchell enjoys a variety of music from Korn to Creed. She says listening to the right type of music while she writes helps set the mood for some interesting scenes in her story. On her website she features some of the new albums she enjoys listening to while writing.

Mitchell's current books include Dark of kNight, her debut novel of the Dark of kNight Series. Other books coming soon are Fall of kNight, Dawn of kNight and The NightMan Collection. Her future works will include the remaining 4 books in the Dark of kNight Series as well as a her new Fantasy novel.

Here's T. L Mitchell in her own words:

When I started writing as a profession I was 40 years old. It took me 3 years to write my first novel and exactly 1 month to rewrite it for publication. Writing has always interested me and I found it very therapeutic. Readers are not the only one's who enjoy a break from their normal day lives. Writers and authors become involved in the lives of their characters as well.

It is very difficult to say who my favorite character is in my stories. Each one has their own little quirks and attitudes. If I had to choose from my current published works, I would say it was Richard. He has been the most fun to write. Richard is a vampire. One of the most dangerously seductive vampires I could imagine. There are things that only he could do to a woman that would take her breath away. Anything I could imagine went into Richard's character. He is strong, sexy and very confident. A vampire who knows what he wants and goes after it. He is such a bad boy.

The author who has been a great mentor to me and helped me understand more of the writing, publishing arena is Shannon Bailey. Mrs. Bailey is the author of a very unique vampire story Forever David's and Develyn's Tale. She has also written The Haunted Hillerman House, a very captivating mystery romance. Shannon has been a great friend and always a great teacher when it come to writing and editing. Whenever I had a problem with my writing style, or wanted to accomplish a certain feel in my writing Shannon would always come through for me. She has a wonderful gift with her own unique writing style. I think it is very important for a new author to have a mentor. Especially one who allows for your own unique style to come through. Also a good friend to discuss your ideas. Sometimes they can help you with that terrifying writer's block we all suffer from now and again. I will have to add J.M. Smith, my new publisher to this list. Since WildHorse Press has taken over the kNight Series Books, I have found Mrs. Smith to be a great help in my goals as a writer and a great director in my writing.

My readers send me messages through my website every now and then. Mostly they all say the same thing I love to hear over and over again "I just love your new series!". As with any author, we love to know the readers enjoy our work. Especially when they relate to one of our characters and are really drawn into the series. When I hear of readers who cried with my characters or was emotional distraught over a very rough scene in the book I know I've done my job as a writer. There were times in each one of my books, Dark of kNight and Fall of kNight I cried so hard I had to leave the computer. When a write is in tune with their characters to this extent you know the readers will enjoy it. Most of the questions I am asked are "When is the next book coming out?" and "Who is Julie going to end up with?"

The first question I can usually answer, however the second question I can't reveal. Readers will have to wait until the third book to finally find out who with Julie end up with. Whether it be Daniel or Richard, the main story line will be enough to keep readers satisfied with the story and ending.

Book Signing Walden Books Aug 8, 2009

Posted by T.L. Mitchell on August 8, 2009 at 11:38 PM Comments comments (2)

This is a moment in history for me.  My first book.  My first book to make it to the bookstore shelves.  My first booksigning.  Could it be one of many more firsts?

Yes, today was the first day Dark of kNight was released in the bookstore shelves of Waldenbooks.  It actually didn't hit me until a few moments ago as to what this means.  The book signing was a success.  According to the store manager, my book signing was their most successful booksigning for the summer.

Many, many thanks goes to my friends, ALL OF YOU, my fans and the wonderful people who purchased Dark of kNight.  Many thanks to each of you.

I enjoyed meeting all of the customers and talking with them.  There are a few people out there I have meet over the weekend who are aspiring writers.  I do hope, if you are reading this, you will introduce yourself.  There are some great authors, who care, within this website.  Many of them shared the heartaches, tears and headaches of publishing and can offer great advice.  This is a place you will find safety and words of wisdom.

I have posted the pictures.  Hope you all enjoy them.  One thing, I wished I had a group photo of my Adams Family.  I thank you all for coming out and giving me a big "Shout Out!" .

Thanks to everyone for making Dark of kNight successful.

A special thanks to  Pam for letting Katy use your camera to take pictures.  You guys did great.

OH if you look carefully at the wall picture of the book, you will see my book beside Twilight, Keri Author and Karen Marie Moning.  Does this mean something????  All these books are best sellers.  LOL.

Smile everyone! & Thank you again.

Tracey
